For Joel, dairy runs deep. Raised on a small, traditional tie-stall dairy in upstate New York, he was already getting involved in farm life from the age of two. His family’s 80-cow herd was managed primarily by the family, instilling in him a strong work ethic and a deep respect for the industry. With a clear vision for his future, he pursued an agricultural business degree from Cornell and stepped into full-time dairy production in 1991. By 1995, he had purchased his own cows and transitioned into a freestall facility, growing his herd from 100 to 300 cows over six years.
If we can provide an environment for our cows that’s at the top of industry standards, that’s the first step to producing the best quality milk.

Driving Innovation and Efficiency
For Joel, dairy farming is as much about progress as it is about tradition. He embraces technology to increase efficiency and ensure sustainability, always looking for ways to improve. His team focuses on maximizing nutrient absorption, reducing waste, and improving operational precision—all of which contribute to lowering the farm’s environmental footprint, and ensuring that every drop of milk is produced with care and responsibility.
A Leader in the Dairy Community
Beyond his own farm, Joel is an advocate for the broader dairy industry. His farm played a key role in becoming one of the first Fair Trade Certified dairy operations. He is actively involved in industry organizations such as NYAAC (the New York Animal Agriculture Coalition), frequently speaking at events and mentoring young farmers. His leadership reinforces our mission to support not just farmers, but the people and communities that make dairy possible.

Building a Strong Team Culture
Joel understands that great farming isn’t just about the cows—it’s also about the people. His farm operates with a culture of open communication, continuous learning, and friendly competition among herd managers to drive excellence. By fostering a collaborative, forward-thinking team and supporting those around him, Joel continues to build a legacy of high-quality, sustainable dairy farming and care.
